Qatar Wednesday reports 267 new Covid-19 cases, one death, 285 recoveries

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Wednesday reported 267 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease (Covid-19), one death and 285 recoveries from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 178 and recoveries to 108,539.
The MoPH in a statement said the 63 year old deceased patient was receiving the necessary medical care. The Ministry also said new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status.

About the current status of Covid-19 in the country, the Ministry said the measures to tackle the pandemic have succeeded and the spread of the virus and the number of new daily cases and hospital admissions are continuing to decline each week.
It is the proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has enabled Qatar to identify a high number of positive cases in the community, the statement said.
The Ministry also pointed out that Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world, which is a result of  very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector for Covid-19 patients, Qatar's young population, the proactive testing to identify cases early, expanding capacity of hospitals, especially the intensive care facilities, the care taken to give protection to the elderly and those with chronic diseases in the country.
The Ministry also cautioned that, even though the Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted, and number of cases are declining, these do not mean that the pandemic ceased to exist in Qatar. The fact that people are still being admitted to hospitals with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms, should not be ignored
MoPH also warned that, unless all precautionary measures are followed, the country may experience a second wave of the virus and see numbers increasing as it is already seen in different countries around the world. Now more than ever, everyone should be careful and protect the most vulnerable in the society, the Ministry added.
While the restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary like avoiding close contact with others, not going to crowded places, not getting into confined closed spaces where other people congregate, adhering to physical distancing, wearing face masks, washing hands regularly and most important of all, continuing to  protect the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions.
MoPH also said that anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers to undergo the necessary checks. The heath centres are thise at: Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal and Al Gharafa.  This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
The Ministry also recommended regular visit to the the MoPH website for regular updates and new information on Covid-19.
