The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday announced 196 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, three deaths and 201 recoveries from the infection during the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Qatar to 177 and total number of recovered cases to 107779.
The Ministry said the deceased patients were aged 48, 60 and 71 respectively and were receiving the necessary medical care.

All new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status, MoPH added.
The Ministry said in a statement that the measures to bring Covid-19 under control in Qatar have succeeded. The virus spread is now limited and the number of new daily cases and hospital admissions show consistent decline.
The cases now being reported in the community are identified by Qatar’s proactive and extensive testing, MoPH pointed out.
The Ministry also said that the country has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world and that is because of various factors like the very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector to Covid-19 patients, Qatar’s young population, proactive testing to identify cases early, the increased capacity of hospitals and the addition of more intensive care units.
The Ministry also cautioned that the pandemic is not yet over in Qatar, though the restrictions are being lifted, and the number of new cases are steadily decreasing. MoPH reminded that people are still being admitted on a daily basis to hospitals with moderate to severe symptoms.
There is always the danger of a second wave of the virus spread, as it is happening in some countries across the world, if the public do not continue to follow all precautionary measures, the Ministry warned.
MoPH urged all to play their role in controlling the virus by sticking to the precautionary measures like adhering to physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others and crowded places, not getting into confined closed spaces where people congregate, wearing face masks and washing hands regularly.
Protecting the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions should be continued to be protected, the Ministry said.
Anyone having Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers located at Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, or Al Gharafa Health, MoPH said. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
The Ministry also advised all to visit its dedicated website to get regular updates and new information on the pandemic.
