The Ministry of Public Health Sunday announced 340 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, three deaths and 354 recoveries from the disease during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number deaths to 157 and recoveries to 1,03,377 in Qatar.
The Ministry said the deceased patients who were aged 56, 59 and 69 respectively were all receiving the necessary medical care.

MoPH also said all new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status.
The Ministry said the steps taken to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar are proved to be effective and that is evident from the persistent reduction in the number of positive cases each day. The number of hospital admissions per week too show continuous decline.
It is the proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases that has enabled Qatar to identify a high number of positive cases in the community, MoPH pointed out.
The Ministry also said that Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world, thanks to the very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector, Qatar’s young population, proactive testing to identify cases early and expanding hospital capacity, especially the intensive care.
Even though the Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted in the country, and the number of positive cases keep on declining, those facts do not mean that the Covid-19 pandemic ceased to exist in Qatar, the Ministry reminded. The fact that every day between 50 and 100 people are being admitted to hospital with moderate to severe symptoms can not be ignored.
The Ministry cautioned that, unless all precautionary measures are strictly followed, the country may experience a second wave of the virus rising number of cases as it is happening in many countries across the globe.
While the restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures like adhering to physical distancing, avoiding close contact with others, not going to crowded places and confined closed spaces where other people congregate, wearing face masks, and washing hands regularly, the Ministry stressed.
The Ministry also urged all to continue to protect the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions by taking all the precautions.
Anyone suffering from COVID-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers (Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, or Al Gharafa Health) to undergo the necessary checks, the Ministry added. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
The Ministry also advised all to visit this section of its website dedicated for Covid-19 for regular updates and new information.
