Qatar reports big drop in Covid-19 cases Saturday

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Saturday announced 530 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, marking a drop of 226 from Friday's cases. MoPH also announced two deaths and 1804 recoveries during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 123 and recoveries to 90387.
The deceased patients were aged 69 and 82 respectively and were receiving the necessary medical care, MoPH said.

The Ministry also said all new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status.

The Ministry said the measures to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar have succeeded as is evident from the downward trend seen in the graphical curve of cases.
The number of new daily cases and hospital admissions has gradually declined over the past few weeks, the Ministry added. The rise in the number of deaths seen in recent weeks are that of patients infected during the peak of the infection several weeks ago.
MoPH also noted that there has been an increase in cases among families and that is of great concern as this population group includes the highest percentage of the elderly and people with chronic conditions. So, more than ever, we must be careful and protect the most vulnerable now, MoPH cautioned.
While the restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures such as adhering to physical distancing, wearing a face mask and washing hands regularly, the Ministry said. MoPH also reminded that it is vital that the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions we continue to be protected.
The Ministry urged all suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the following designated health centers to undergo the necessary checks: Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, and Al Gharafa. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
MoPH also recommended the visit to the dedicated section of its website for Covid-19 for regular updates and for new information.
