The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday announced 393 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 , one death and 409 recoveries from the infection in Qatar during the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 160 and total recoveries to 104191.
The Ministry said the deceased patient was 45 years old and was receiving the necessary medical care. All new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status, MoPH added.

Citing the consistent reduction in the number of cases per day, the Ministry stressed that it was evident that the country has succeeded in containing the pandemic. The decline in the weekly number of hospital admissions too indicates the virus spread is under control, MoPH said.
The Ministry also said that the world's lowest Covid-19 death rates in Qatar is because of the following facts: Very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector, Qatar’s young population, proactive testing to identify the cases early, and the expanded capacity of hospitals, especially the intensive care facilities.
The high number of positive cases, though declining steadily, being identified each day is because of the proactive and extensive testing being done, MoPH said.
Even though restrictions are being lifted, and the number of cases are declining, these do not mean that the pandemic ceased to exit in Qatar, the Ministry cautioned. Many patients are still being admitted to hospitals with moderate to severe Covid symptoms, the Ministry pointed out.
The MoPH also warned that, unless all precautionary measures are strictly followed, Qatar may experience a second wave of the virus spread and see a spike in numbers just as it already happened in many countries.
To prevent the above scenario, everyone should avoid close contact with others, crowded places and getting into confined closed spaces with others.
Precautions like adhering to physical distancing, wearing face masks and washing hands regularly should also be followed. The Ministry also reminded that it is vital that the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions are always protected.
Anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers to undergo the necessary checks, MoPH said. The health centres are: Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal and Al Gharafa. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
MoPH also recommended visiting this dedicated section of its website for regular updates and new information on Covid-19.
