Covid-19: 389 new cases, 2 deaths and 405 recoveries Monday in Qatar

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Monday announced 389 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, 2 deaths and 405 recoveries, taking the total death to 159 and the total number of recovered persons to 103782. The Ministry also announced the death of two patients aged 70 and 71 respectively, who were receiving the necessary medical care.  ?
MoPH said all new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status.

The Ministry stressed that the measures to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar have found success citing the the downward path of the graph of daily number of cases and the reduced number of hospital admissions. Qatar’s proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases have enabled the identification of large number of positive cases in the community, MoPH pointed out. Moreover, the statistics indicate that Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world, which can be considered as the combined result of very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector, Qatar’s young population, proactive testing to identify cases early, expanded capacity of the hospitals, especially intensive care that ensures all patients receive proper and timely medical care and the protection given to the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
The Ministry also reminded the public that, even though the restrictions are being lifted in the country and the number of cases are going down each day, these do not mean that the pandemic vanished from Qatar. It should be remembered that a considerable number of patients are still being admitted to the hospitals with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms.
Therefore, unless all precautionary measures are followed, a second wave of the virus and a surge in number of cases can happen, given the experience of many countries around the world, the Ministry warned.
MoPH also urged all to avoid close contact with others, crowded places and confinement within closed spaces where other people aggregate. While the restrictions of Covid-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures like adhering to physical distancing, wearing  face masks, washing hands regularly and protecting the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions by taking extra care when being with them.
MoPH also reminded that anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms should either contact 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers to undergo the necessary checks. The health centers are those at Muaither, Rawdat Al Khail, Umm Slal, and at Al Gharafa. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.
The Ministry also advised the public to regularly visit to MoPH website for updates and new information on the pandemic.
