Qatar will tussle with Tajikistan, Malaysia and Yemen for the two quarter-final slots from Group D following yesterday’s official draw for the AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan 2020 at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur. The AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan 2020 will be held on October 14 to 31. Fabio Cesar-coached Qatar should fancy their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage as they are the stronger team in the group.
Adding to the excitement and intensity of the competition is the knowledge that the top four sides will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Indonesia 2021. Qatar’s first match will be against Yemen on October 16, followed by games against Malaysia (October 19) and Tajikistan (October 22).
Title holders Saudi Arabia were drawn in Group C along with Australia, Vietnam, Laos. South Korea, the tournament’s most successful team with 12 titles and the runners-up in 2018, were drawn in an enticing Group B with Japan, Iraq and Bahrain.
Four-time winners Iran will have hosts Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Cambodia for company in Group A.

AFC U-16 Championship
The draw for the AFC U-16 Championship Bahrain 2020 was also held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Qatar were drawn in a tough Group A, which also has North Korea, winners in 2010 and 2014, hosts Bahrain and Iran.
The AFC U-16 Championship Bahrain 2020 will be played on November 25 to December 12. Sixteen teams will be vying for the title while the top four teams will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Peru 2021. Qatar will play their first match against Bahrain on November 25 and will then take on North Korea on November 28 and Iran on December 1. Three-time winners and defending champions Japan are set to face Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and China.
Tajikistan, the 2018 runners-up, were drawn in Group B alongside Oman, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates. Two-time champions South Korea, who finished third in 2018, were drawn in Group C with Australia, India and Uzbekistan.
