Qatar Charity, Sudanese in Qatar send 7 tonnes of medical aid to Sudan


A 7 tonne shipment of medical aid worth QR2 million, provided by Qatar Charity and professional associations of Sudanese working in Qatar, arrived Saturday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
The shipment was received by Sudan's Minister of Health Dr. Akram Ali Altom, Acting Charge d'Affairs to the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Sudan Talal Farhan Al Anzi, and several officials of the supreme committee for health emergencies.
The assistance included protection tools for doctors and health personnel to tackle the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Sudan's Minister of Health Dr. Akram Ali Altom thanked Qatar government, people, and organizations for its permanent standing with Sudan, stressing that the relationship between the two countries is historic. Qatar has always provided technical and material assistance, relief, and support to Sudan, and it is still providing them, he said.
Sudan Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Abbas Fadlallah said that the State of Qatar has always stood with Sudan to confront disasters, the last of which was standing with Sudan during the flood disaster where Qatar established an airlift to help those affected. He thanked Qatar for its permanent standing with Sudan.
Acting Charge d'Affairs to the Embassy of Qatar in Sudan Talal Farhan Al Anzi pointed out that this assistance comes within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries and fraternal ties between Qatar and Sudan. He also affirmed the Qatar's commitment to enhancing those relations in the interest of both countries.
