PHCC launches campaign to mark International Day for Hand Hygiene

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched the 10th campaign for hand hygiene, in connection with the International Day for Hand Hygiene, marked on May 5 every year.

The campaign targets all PHCC workers amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, by emphasising remote working procedures for administrative staff, while medical and clinical staff in health centres have been given many precautionary guidelines such as wearing masks and gloves during fieldwork, medical telephone consultations and preventing patients from visiting health centres, except for the necessary cases.

Held under the theme, "Clean care is in your hands," PHCC aims the campaign to improve and consolidate the practice of hand hygiene, and motivate the community and the health centre employees to reduce the rate of infection Dr Khalid al-Awad, Director of Health Protection Department at the Primary Care Corporation, said that the PHCC is working to avoid various risks, especially for workers in health centres, including preventing the transmission of germs and viruses such as (Covid-19) by ensuring the provision of alcoholic detergents and awareness of the proper way to wash and sterilise hands.
