The Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) Sunday launched the second wave of lean manufacturing programme (LMP), featuring a dynamic group of ambitious local entrepreneurs who seek to learn about the best practices in manufacturing and start their own production facility.
Over the course of six intensive weeks, the entrepreneurs will embark on a journey that covers all aspects of setting-up and operating a manufacturing facility.
The programme, based on “lean methodology”, kicks-off with an introduction to legal compliance and regulations in Qatar, and concludes with the fundamentals of end-to-end supply chain management.
The modules — which include customer validation, product prototyping, marketing and sales strategy, factory design and machinery mapping — would be delivered in the form of weekly interactive workshops and training sessions.
“At QBIC, we are committed to our responsibility towards developing and supporting entrepreneurs within the local manufacturing sector; by empowering this new wave of industrial innovators, we enable them to transform their ideas into cutting-edge manufacturing facilities and quality products," said QBIC general manager Hamad al-Qahtani.
Through the programme, QBIC seeks to contribute to the advancement of the manufacturing sector in Qatar, which has seen tremendous growth over the past two years, he added.
The LMP is designed to build the capacity of companies and startups that are currently manufacturing or aiming to manufacture products in Qatar.
The LMP entrepreneurs are trained to develop their ideas alongside invaluable insights provided by local and international experts and partners, as QBIC continues to deliver contents that are relevant to the local market.
Within this programme, entrepreneurs and business owners gain a thorough, hands-on understanding of the complete manufacturing process.
At the end of the programme, the top-performing entrepreneurs would present their businesses to a specialised committee for a chance to earn an industrial facility, continuous training and office space.
The ultimate goal for participating entrepreneurs is to grow and scale from an industrial facility into one of the Jahiz factories, which would propel their business to even greater heights.
