The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) announced Monday that following further screening, four additional cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been recorded in the State of Qatar for two Qatari citizens and two female domestic workers who were travelling with them.
The four new cases are among the citizens who were evacuated from the Islamic Republic of Iran on a government-chartered plane on 27 February 2020 and have been under full quarantine upon their arrival, bringing the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in the country to seven cases.
The patients have been transferred to the Communicable Disease Center for treatment under full quarantine and they are in a stable condition, the statement said.
The MOPH reiterated that the patients have not had any engagement with the general public stressing that the risk of infection to the public remains low.
The Ministry noted the stable condition of the first three cases that were diagnosed and announced recently, adding that they are undergoing treatment in the Communicable Disease Center. It pointed out that it continues to monitor quarantined individuals for symptoms.
The MOPH has also taken all precautionary measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus by subjecting all travellers coming from countries where the virus is reported to quarantine upon arrival in the country, the statement said adding that the Ministry continues to monitor quarantined individuals for symptoms.
