The Institute of the Internal Auditors (IIA), Doha Chapter, recently conducted a seminar in Doha on “Integrated Thinking and Reporting” presented by Zach le Roux, a South Africa-based independent global consultant in auditing, risk management and governance. “The traditional annual reports do not address the issues of today and tomorrow, in that they only focus on the profit side of the business. Hence financial statements form less and less the basis for shareholder buy and sell decisions” le Roux stated.
“The seminar provided novel concepts on a very topical subject of discussion globally. The integration of financial and other capital resource information is allowing more informed decision making and the development of smarter Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators.
“The stakeholders are increasingly interested in seeing how the entity adds value to matters such as social responsibility, environment preservation, and conservation, employee well-being, etc.” said Sundaresan Rajeswar, board member, IIA who co-ordinated the event. Christain Adonis, Board member introduced the speaker.
